Applications are being accepted to establish an initial eligibility list for Police Officer until September 28, 2018.  There are no current vacancies.

All applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications and requirements at the time of application:


  • Be a U.S. citizen;
  • Minimum of 21 years of age by date of hire;
  • Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent;
  • Possess a minimum of 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university -OR- an Associate’s Degree in any field;
  • No felony convictions (or convictions for certain misdemeanors);
  • Possess a valid State-issued driver’s license (Note: Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License at time of employment);
  • Have vision correctable to 20/20;
  • Pass a written examination (testing to be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 6:30 PM);
  • Applicants must possess a P.O.W.E.R. Test identification card issued by Northern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA), Joliet Community College, or Triton Community College prior to being scheduled for an interview – AND – issued within the last 12 months;.
    • NOTE: The P.O.W.E.R. Test Card requirement will be waived for currently employed law enforcement officers.
  • Reside within a one hour drive-time from the Village of Barrington Hills;
  • Pay a $45.00 non-refundable application processing fee.
