  • Hit and Run – Fatality – May 11, 2018 (Case # 2018-1808) (Updated)

On May 11, 2018, at 10:01 pm, Barrington Hills Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist on Illinois Route 59, south of Illinois Route 68.   On arrival, officers observed a bicycle, badly damaged, on the shoulder of the roadway.  The rider, later identified as a 28-year-old man from Schiller Park IL, was thrown several feet from the bicycle and not responsive.   The offending vehicle left the scene prior to the arrival of authorities.  Preliminary investigation has identified the offending vehicle as a dark-colored Toyota Tundra pick-up truck.

Emergency medical assistance was provided at the scene by Barrington Countryside Fire and Lake Zurich Fire Departments.  Barrington and South Barrington Police and Hanover Township ESDA also provided assistance.  This incident remains under investigation by the Barrington Hills Police Department, the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT), and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

UPDATE:  Further information has been developed, leading investigators to believe that the offending vehicle could be a 2010 Toyota Sequoia SUV, or the previously mentioned Toyota Tundra pick-up truck.  The Tundra could be 2007 or newer.
